Update on 2020 Season

Hello Rattlers Families:

I hope this note finds you all safe, healthy, and coping well with the rapid developments that have overwhelmed our normal routines in the last 2 weeks.

As you can guess, we are suspending our operations for the foreseeable future in accordance with all available guidance from public health authorities. All public venues are closed through the end of the month, our fields are closed and the AYL has suspended league play. All players from 2020 will see a registration credit once we are credited with the pro-rated portion of our referee fees. I also have uniforms and other items that I will make sure get to families that have not received them.

I am extremely disappointed that we will not get the chance to finish the season together. This has been an exciting and challenging year as the club grew in new directions on and off the field. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the new players and families that joined us and appreciate your patience as I navigated the league landscape.

For the 8th graders, this note is especially bittersweet. Many of you are the founding members of the club, the ‘green shoots’ that joined me for our first practices 3 years ago. While you have a very bright future ahead of you, I will miss the opportunity to see you finish your Rattlers experience.

I can’t express how grateful I am to the coaches and parents who contributed in ways big and small to our club’s efforts. My deepest thanks to all of you.

As things hopefully return to some semblance of normalcy, the Rattlers will be out at Cashman Park to hold shootarounds and drop-in clinics on Sundays open to all. I also have fields reserved through May in case we get a chance for one more game. As a lacrosse coach, I can’t help but point out that there are tons of stick drills, wall ball, stick tricks, online resources, and of course archived games available while socially distancing.

I look forward to seeing you all again, my best wishes for your health in the weeks ahead. If anyone has questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,

Benjamin Jones

The first aluminum shaft was built in 1980 starting the migration from the wooden sticks used for hundreds of years.
