To help assist in navigating the supply chain, new rules, and a new sport for many of you, here are some links and tips on finding quality pads at decent prices.

Used gear:

  • A great option in many cases.
  • Locally, please be mindful about buying Shoulder Pads on Offerup, Marketplace, or Play It Again.
    • Check to make sure they have an EKG logo somewhere on the pads.
  • The only other caveat is that used sticks may need to have the pocket replaced (roughly $20-40ish for supplies, and $25-50 to have someone 'string' the new pocket) The team has brand-new, hand-strung Powell Scout sticks available for $50.
    • Coaches will inspect and repair all players sticks at the beginning of teh season

Dick's:

  • Reasonable selection and convenient locations
  • Prices can be slightly higher than many online retailers. Ask about price matching at the Norterra and Mayo/101 locations.

Online:

  • Lacrosse Monkey:  https://www.lacrossemonkey.com/
  • Sport Stop: https://www.sportstop.com/
  • Lacrosse Unlimited:  https://www.lacrosseunlimited.com/
  • Lax Fanatic: https://lacrossefanatic.com/

Lax Monkey is in Irvine, CA while Lacrosse Unlimited is the largest in the country and based in NY. Sports Stop is in NH (no sales tax), and Lax Fanatic is a local supplier.

Deals (click link):

supply is limited, both of the above retailers said they expect to sell out in the next few days of anything below $100-125.

Tips:

  • Always try the gear on for sizing if possible. Fit can vary wildly
  • Gloves are a critical piece of gear, since 'feel' and grip are critical for stick handling. worth spending a little more here if the player is looking to step up from their first pair
  • Stick length
    • 8u and 10u players should make sure their sticks are 37"-38" long
    • 12u and 14U players must use a stick that is 40"-42"
      • the shorter the stick, the easier it is to handle
      • 37" and 40" are the legal minimums from top of head to end of the shaft
