Highlights for 12U (Note: 2021 12U will be playing 10v10)
10v10 or 8v8
For 10v10, each team has 1 Goalkeeper, 3 defensemen, 3 midfielders and 3 attackmen.
Each team must keep at least four players, including the goalie in its defensive half of the field and three in its offensive half.
The three midfielders can roam the entire field. (A defensemen may advance to the offensive half of the field if a midfielder remains in the defensive half.)
Max of 4 Long Poles on the field
For 8v8, each team has 1 Goalkeeper, 2 defensemen, 3 midfielders and 2 attackmen.
Each team must keep at least three players, including the goalie in its defensive half of the field and 2 in its offensive half.
The two midfielders can roam the entire field. (A defensemen may advance to the offensive half of the field if a midfielder remains in the definsive half.)
Max of 3 Long Poles on the field
Field Size: 10v10 - 110 yards x 60 yards, 8v8 - 60-70 yards x 35-45 yards
Goal Size: 6' x 6'
Two 22-minute halves
Faceoffs to start each half
Faceoffs with 1 player releasing from wing area for each team
Full stick checking legal, but no one-handed checks
Body checking legal, but no take-out checks
General gameplay information
If the ball or a player in possession of the ball goes out of bounds, the other team is awarded possession of the ball.
If the ball goes out of bounds after an unsuccessful shot on goal, the player nearest to the ball when and where it goes out of bounds is awarded possession.
An attacking player cannot enter the crease around the goal, but may reach in with his stick to scoop a loose ball.
All contact must occur from the front or side, above the waist and below the shoulders.
